Some years ago, the Managing Director of HCI Group, Bijo Kunnumpurath, found himself facing a challenge that is common among business owners. . The business which he had started with so much passion needed a clear system so that his staff were able to perform their duties efficiently. Although Bijo was not sure where to start, he knew he had to take control of the situation. While contemplating how to resolve this issue, he realised that his situation was not unique to him – - many start-ups find themselves strangled by their own success and often die out. The seed of an idea started to develop in his mind, and Bijo created the web application that would turn his company around.
Every company must have a clearly defined vision, and well-defined timelines for the achievement of specific targets. After a careful analysis of the day-to-day operations of his company as well as the challenges and potential solutions, Bijo was able to develop a web application that streamlined and organised his business operations. Operational software was re-defined and all business processes were made to be in sync with business’s overall vision. Staff were given clear goals and points of accountability, and each employee came to know their own targets and how they fit into the big picture.
